The kids and I have a lovely routine where we go to the park right after lunch to run around and play before nap time. Over the holiday, Gil came with us to the park. On Monday, this sweet dog came over to play with us and followed us home.
He was friendly, trained, and clean. We guessed he'd run off because of the fireworks the night before. We posted his picture, but no one claimed him. He was chipped but the chip hadn't been registered anywhere. We decided to hold on to him for a few days to see if anyone claimed him.
Gil quickly built him a dog house and a neighbor loaned us some dog food. Wesley was in heaven. We called the dog Baxter and the Wee Lad spent almost all his time outside playing with him. Lauren was terrified of the dog and made noises I'd never heard from my baby. I didn't like it. I also didn't like having to clean up after the dog.
This cutie stole our hearts but we are not ready to have a dog yet. Our house and yard are small and with a baby not yet walking, it's just not time. The county came and picked him up today and it was bitter sweet.

Maybe a dog someday, but not today.
