New Year 2024!

We left a few days after Christmas for Utah to visit family.  Thankfully, our kids are pretty good travelers.  Wesley drew this manger scene in the car.  Gil and I were pretty impressed.
We left the house early, early and stopped to make breakfast and stretch legs just south of Las Vegas.  We then drove around Hoover Dam a bit before heading into town.  We stopped at a chocolate factory to see how they make their chocolate and to get some treats for family.  Then we headed to St. George.  We spent a relaxing afternoon and following morning with my parents before heading north to Salt Lake.

We checked into our hotel, grabbed some dinner, got back to the room, watched some tv, and right before turning the lights off, Wesley threw-up.  A lot.  He proceeded to throw-up about every two hours the rest of the night.  It was awful.  Traveling, sick kid, hotel, and the hotel said they'd have a crib for Lauren but they didn't so she was all over the place all night.  Hopefully that experience is done and we won't have to repeat it.

Wesley was feeling a lot better the next morning so we layered up and headed up the mountain to find some snow.  Wesley really wanted to build a snowman.
The best we could do with low-moisture content snow.  He was done after about 20 minutes, which was good since Lauren screamed bloody murder at us from the time she got out of the car and touched the snow until we buckled her back in her car seat.  We headed back into town and all of us ended up taking an almost two hour nap in the car in the parking lot of Gil's brothers' condo.  We all felt much better after that.  We were able to briefly meet our newest cousin, barely a month old, before heading to a new hotel for the night.

The next day, Gil's oldest brother and his family drove down from ID and we all went to the SLC planetarium.  It was a really cool space with awesome exhibits.  It was a smidge too old for my kids, but they found their fun anyway.  Here is a blurry picture of them exploring Mars.
We hung out at the church building where Uncle Bryan attends for the afternoon before heading out to dinner as a family.  Here we are with the siblings, only missing Gil's sister and her family.  The Clements are pretty cool.
We went to church Sunday morning with Mark and his family, then headed south back to St. George.  Monday, New Year's Day, we headed home.  We stopped at Lake Mead for lunch and explored this awesome red rock sandstone area.

Hooray for snow, family, and adventures.  Here's to a 2024 full of plenty of it.
