Off Grid

I'm alive! I am. I have fallen off grid, for sure. Let me tell you how my last few weeks have progressed.

I packed my car. While doing so, I left the door open. A bat flew in the house. It was exciting as my mother and I chased it, trying not to wake my dad.
I left Houston bright and early Wednesday, May 4th. I made a quick stop to tee-pee a friend, and continued north and west.

Getting closer...

You have arrived!

I have now been in Nevada a little over a two weeks now and it has snowed almost every day since I've been here. Whoever invented the electric blanket is my hero!

I'm about halfway through training and there is a lot to learn and a lot to prepare for before I'm in uniform behind the desk answering questions, hiking the trails, or giving my cave tour... but I'm loving it!

I live in Snake Valley and the park is in the South Snake Range. If/when the weather clears, I'm hoping to get better pictures posted.

This is a very important cattle guard. It is the only place within 67 miles where, if you're lucky, you can get maybe one bar of cell phone coverage. As I said, off grid. (ps - 67 miles away is also where the closest grocery store is, too.) There are a few wifi hotspots, and I'm hoping to get this posted before I lose that coverage too so my apologies if the grammar is atrocious.

There are a few more pictures I want to post, such as my sweet housing arrangement, more of the park and the cave, and good old Baker, where the sign says "Welcome" on both sides. My apologies for those other bloggers I have abandoned these last few weeks. It's really hard not having phone or internet and being able to know what's happening with ya'll. I hope this find you well! I'm doing great, cold, but great!
