I know, it's almost the end of the month. Some of you might perhaps think this a cop-out, but I say a post is a post.
Another difference between working in Yosemite and the desert is it rains a bit more here in the Sierras. I therefore bought a raincoat. It was on sale and I was pretty thrilled to find it. Notice the watch too. It is my first ever digital. It was a necessary purchase to help with accurate data collection in the field. It's set on military time.
The rain coat has a hood that sticks out and cinches around my face. I had an opportunity to test it this past week and it worked quite well. I was warm and dry.I had some left-over fabric and decided it was time to hang my junior ranger badges and patches. I stitched all the badges on by hand. I've got quite a few other parks to visit this summer and I'm excited to add to my collection.
I have been out in the field collecting data every day but one since I started here at Yosemite. Since I'm supposed to blend in as much as possible with the visitors, I don't wear an NPS uniform. I've been wearing shorts, t-shirts, and my flip-flops. I've got great lines on my feet, a watch tan, a thin line from my hair tie on my wrist, a white band from my CTR ring, and my hair is getting lighter.
When I first moved in, I thought the faucet on the sink was quit lovely...
...and then I brushed my teeth that night and realized the long faucet knob is a terrible design for a small sink. Imagine what happens (or has almost happened) when you lift that knob when you're trying to wash your face.
My roommates have done some decorating in the living room. I love how many windows the house has.
We have some fridge poetry magnets. These are the two I created. There is a lot more but it ranges from inappropriate to incredibly inappropriate so I did not include them and ignore them as best I can. ("child of the universe" is not mine. I know I'm a child of God.)
This is the view from my bedroom window. The Merced River has dropped considerably since I moved in, but it still offers a most soothing background noise at night.
Feel free to come visit and see the place for yourself!
