Children's Museum of Phoenix

We ventured on Saturday to the Children's Museum.  It was fabulous!  I don't know what I was expecting, but this was awesome.  We are going to get a membership and come often during the hot summer months when we need an activity.

Wesley had no desire to crawl through these tubes until Gil gave him a flashlight.  Then it was a wonderful adventure.
The car wash.  We spent a good hour here.  What an awesome activity.  Not to brag, but Wesley was the most coordinated on the tricycle of any of the other children that passed through.
Another popular activity was the ice cream stand.  Wesley served and Gil and I ate a lot of ice cream.

Another hit was the grocery store.  We spent quite a bit of time here too. The shopping part wasn't his favorite thing either - it was putting the items on the conveyer belt and using the handle to move the belt along.  He also really enjoyed getting out his pretend wallet and using his pretend credit card to pay for everything.  He is very particular about doing things exactly how I do them.

I think Gil enjoyed himself as much as Wesley.  He spent a good half hour or more at this Plinko-like contraption.

A lot of the rooms had Bumbos in them.  Lauren tried out her first one and loved it.  I think she liked being able to sit up and watch what was going on.  This little girl is so incredibly strong already and starting to smile!

It was a wonderful day and I look forward to going back often.

Camping!

Gil took Wesley camping for the first time.  This little boy was so excited to sleep in a tent he could hardly contain himself.  As soon as Gil got home, Wesley climbed into his carseat and sat there until Gil finished loading the car and left.  So excited.

Lauren and I stayed home (and one of us ate a lot of ice cream) so I'm not sure how this tractor came into play but Gil said it was big fun.  Wesley loves to pretend to drive anything we'll let him and he loves to pretend to be a garbage truck around the house and the apartment complex.
Again, not sure why there were bison, but pretty cool.  Didn't know they were this far south...
I am looking forward to more camping trips as a family and once both kids are out of diapers, some backpacking adventures.

Help Around the House

I am being reminded how much time a newborn takes and how other tasks often don't get done.  Thankfully, the Wee Lad has stepped up to help around the house.

He vacuums.
He makes cookies and is pretty good about not eating too much of the dough.
He helped decorate for Gil's birthday and took his card making very seriously, using his drill and wearing his safety glasses.
He uses my hand pump to pump his belly button every morning to provide milk for his sister.  He uses my shirt holder as well because that's how I do it and that's how it should be done.

He cleans his bathroom
He does the laundry. (Seriously, he does everything except putting in the soap and folding the clean clothes.)
He comforts his sister when she is sad.  (That little girl looks just like her dad in this picture.)
Since he's been helping out so much, we went to the park to play last week for a break from household chores.  It was a new park and we both loved it!  What an awesome playground.  We'll be coming here again.
There was a splash pad next to the playground that we decided to test as well.  Wesley wasn't too keen on our splash pad back in CA, but he was in heaven at this one.  We will definitely be frequenting this and others like it as the temps continue to climb.
We adventured a bit in the mountains on the south side of the valley yesterday.  Wesley got up on this pedestal and said, "Look, Mom, I'm a statue!"
This boy is amazing, so smart, so quick, and such a good natured and sweet child.  Sometimes it's hard to believe he's still only two (at least for another few weeks).  I am so glad he is my Little Man.
