Saguaro National Park

After the success of the trip last week, the kids and I took advantage the beautiful AZ winter to head to Saguaro National Park yesterday.  The park is just outside of Tucson so not too bad a drive for a day trip.

Wesley was so excited to 'take notes' while we were visiting.  He did this quite a few times.  He even found a cactus he wanted to know more about, drew a picture of it, then showed it to a park ranger at the visitor center who was able to identify it.  My little man is growing!
Lauren is growing too.  I can't believe she'll be two next month.  She keeps up pretty well with her brother.  Crazy to think she hasn't even been walking a year yet.  We had a picnic and walked a paved nature trail that was just the perfect length for my littles.

Another great day trip.  Saguaro has east and west units and we visited the west unit.  Maybe in the fall we'll check out the east side.  Always fun to have an adventure.

Casa Grande Ruins

This past week, my parents came down for a visit and to attend the Grandparents Valentine's Day celebration at Wesley's preschool.  They left early yesterday morning and the house felt so empty without them I knew the kids and I wouldn't be able to be home all day.  So, spur of the moment, we headed south to Coolidge, AZ and Casa Grande Ruins National Monument.

The drive wasn't bad and I was surprised how many people were at this kinds of small and sort of out of the way place.  We explored the visitor center, watched the park film, and wandered around the ruins.
We found a 'secret room' that the kids thought was pretty cool.  The entrance was perfect sized for Lauren and Wesley.

We had a picnic lunch while we were there, got a post card, and headed home.  It was a perfect day trip.
