Saguaro National Park

There is a feeling in the air that summer is coming and the heat will soon make outdoor activities nigh impossible. Wanting to soak up as much outdoor time as possible, we headed south to Tucson and Saguaro National Park. This time we explored the east unit.

The saguaro cactus is pretty amazing. It doesn't start growing arms until almost 100 years old! The blooms are white and beautiful.

We did an out and back hike, stopping for lunch at our turn-around point. On the way in, I saw this cactus with the split in the ribs. It captured my attention and I made sure to snap a photo on the way out.
We'll see if we can squeeze a few more adventures in before it gets too hot.
