Wesley First Day of Kindergarten

Wesley started kindergarten this week. I can't believe he's old enough. I know, I know, we kept him home an extra year to play before sending him, but still...

He got a new backpack and lunchbox and all his school supplies. The school we were going to send him to closed so I'm hoping we made the right decision for where he is now.
First day fun! School starts obscenely early in our school district and it was so funny to me to hear teachers and staff asking kids, "how was your summer?" as they arrived at school on July 16th! It's still summer, and will feel like it for a while where we live in AZ.
The school is an International Baccalaureate (IB) elementary and they have some pretty cool student-led curriculum. They talked about how we organize ourselves and how one organization in our lives is family.  Wesley made a hangy-thingy with his family.
After dropping Wesley off, Lauren and I went straight downtown to the Children's Museum and distracted (easily) ourselves there until it was time to pick-up Wesley. Kindergarten is full day and it is a long day. At the moment, Wesley goes because he is my rule follower and knows it's what he's supposed to do. Bless that boy. Lauren is missing her playmate something fierce. This may take all of us a bit to adjust to.
