Very Proud Wife

My husband is quite talented.  He is pretty much good at everything he tries.

We went to the county fair last year and I think Gil got the bug to submit some of his work in 2018.  He submitted three photographs, two color and one black and white.  He also submitted a jar of his homemade jam.

As soon as I got home from Girls Camp on Saturday, we headed over to the El Dorado County Fair.  We made a beeline for the photography exhibit.  I found the first of his photographs, a picture from Titus Canyon in Death Valley, which got third place!!  I was thrilled!
I was also the one to find the second photo, which got a second place.  Gil was starting to glow at this point and I was jumping up and down with excitement.
I started looking for his third photo and couldn't see it.  Gil got this look on his face that I'd never seen before; kind of a "I am mighty pleased with myself but trying to hide just how pleased I am" type of look.  He finally asked if I'd found his third photo and I said I hadn't.  He sheepishly pointed to the "Best of Show" wall.
First Place!!  I was so thrilled I almost started to cry.  So incredibly cool!
We wandered around a bit, then headed to the food building.  We found his cherry plum jam... second place!!  Oh man!  He's amazing, this man of mine.  I showed everyone who would listen to me today at church the photos of my talented husband.  I am one very proud wife!
We found the Forest Service tent and I took a picture of the portable ranger station.  Kind of a cute little contraption.  Smokey was wandering around the fair too; we got a glimpse of him but didn't move fast enough to get a picture.
We of course had to see all the 4H kids and their animals.  We saw the cows and the pigs, the chickens and the sheep.  My favorite, and where we spent the most time, was with the goats.  My paternal grandparents raised goats and my dad grew up milking them.  We all have a soft spot for goats.  This little kid was quite friendly and really enjoyed Gil's attention.  Very cute.
We wandered some more, when into the floriculture and horticulture building and found one of my coworkers had gotten a first place on her orchids.  They were beautiful.  We walked through the wool and textiles and I got all inspired to crochet something for next year.

Very proud and very happy wife.
