I'll admit...

I know, I know, it's been a while since I posted. No exciting adventures to really post about as of late. I'm still in Houston, just finished a five day temp job in River Oaks, and start another next week in the Gallaria area. Still applying to NPS jobs, got two "interested and available?" emails last week, but nothing lined-up for the summer as of yet.

About a year ago, I thought I should come up with something to fill long gaps in my blog posts. I started a list called "I'll admit..." that gives little glimpses into some of the random and often befuddled thoughts and habits of mine. So, until Survivor starts next month and I have something to post about (assuming I don't get bored with it like last season) here are some things you may or may not know about me.

1. I am a fiercely independent and extremely private person. Yeah, I know 'blogger' and 'private person' seem contradictory, but really, they are not. My most personal post 'Connecting with a Star' is still not very revealing.

2. I couldn't tell you the last time I bought a loaf of bread.

3. I love the end of the cereal box. I love the cereal dust, and making almost a paste with it and my milk and slurping it down.

4. I don't do well when I'm cold. I don't like cold weather, cold buildings, etc. and if I am cold, I'm pretty useless. Heat and humidity, bring it on! It could be 90 degrees with equal humidity, sweat pouring from me in buckets...I would take that over being cold any day.

5. When I sleep, I forcefully wedge my pillow between the wall and my shoulder of the side I'm sleeping on. At least once a week, I have to push my mattress back up against the wall.

And, because I think every post should have a picture...archery practice, Thanksgiving 2010.

5100 Block of Darnell

We had kind of a neighborhood reunion last night. What a grand way to usher in the new year! Growing up, there were quite a few kids on our street with whom we filled most of our free time. We had all kept in touch somewhat as we all went off to college, but this was the first time, in a long time, we were all together. We were still missing some, but this is basically the core group. We talked and reminisced and laughed a lot.

Scott is a junior at Texas A&M. His family moved when he was nine and I hadn't seen him since and it was awesome to see him all grown up. Next is me, the parkless park ranger.
Raymond is a junior at Rice University, pre-med, and incredibly intelligent. Rebecca graduated from the University of Texas, spent most of last year in South America, and is now in Houston working and gearing up for her next adventures. Adam is still at BYU, my favorite brother, and king of the one-liners.

We parted, promising to make this a yearly ritual. I'm looking forward to it already!
