My computer died. Without warning. Dead. It was eight years old. That almost qualifies it for ancient artifact status in the laptop world. A new one is on its way but until it arrives I'm stuck with semi-limited internet and using my work computer for blog posts.
I spent a few weekends ago in Las Vegas with Gil. He was a wonderful host. Contrary to our current modus operandi, we didn't hike. We didn't really adventure. The most exciting thing that happened, the only time my heart rate got a little elevated, was when Gil almost got his finger stuck in the neck of a bottle when we were out in public.
The past two months I have spent more nights in a tent than in my own apartment, more hours on trail than I care to compute, and logged a lot of miles (as my tired legs can attest). I wanted a lazy weekend and that's what I got.
I got a tour of Gil's place of employment which was most enjoyable and fascinating. We watched more movies in one weekend than I usually watch in six months. (Granted, most were on as background noise.) We worked a puzzle. Gil cooked good food. He made a gumbo that was so good I wanted to stay all week to eat the left overs until it was gone.
Our puzzle and a bowl of gumbo. It was a perfect weekend.
